Granborough Header

The highlights of the past year include:

  • Completion by AVB of the high speed broadband fibre giving Granborough the benefit of the highest quality and speed for broadband users
  • The village was awarded the Dashwood Trophy in the “Best Kept Village Competition”. The trophy can be seen in the display case in the Crown.
  • The first year of the Devolved services where the Parish Council manages the grass cutting and other services, has proved to be extremely successful and the quality of the work has significantly improved the appearance of the village. Thanks to Councillor Oakland for managing the contractors.
  • Roads and paths managed by Transport for Bucks continues to be unsatisfactory, despite applying constant pressure on Bucks County Council.
  • The Play Area has been maintained and a new Trail has just been installed.
  • The Parish Council continues to support the Village Hall Committee in its plans for maintaining and improving the Hall. This will be an ongoing item requiring substantial fund raising efforts in the coming years.
  • We have had to maintain an ongoing review of the proposed changes in Local Government either the Bucks CC or District Council proposals. This is not likely to be finalised until well into the summer.
  • The finalisation of the Vale of Aylesbury Local Plan has still to be completed and we have had to maintain a watch on the outcome as it will have an important influence on the quantity of additional housing that may be placed on the Village, or surroundings including the Verney Junction Garden Village.
  • Planning applications have been reviewed, with only one major outline planning of 5 houses approved on Winslow Road.
  • The Council is aware of a possible application for 21 houses as an extension of Sovereign Close by a local Developer.
  • The Council are actively considering the preparation of a Neighbourhood Plan. This will require a major input from Residents.
  • Finally we are still urgently seeking a volunteer to join the Parish Council.
